When working with others, it's imperative that you share your greatest successes and sometimes, though it may be hard, your most unfortunate slip-ups. When acknowledging your slip-ups, you show your co-workers and C-suite executives that you're dedicated to a career of learning and re-learning, rather than a career full of toxic pride and stuck-ness. Even if it may seem scary, admitting mistakes rather than heading into sneaky territory offers more reward than risk. After getting over that initial fear, that should be common sense, right?
The man in this story recalls a time when a few of his tech co-workers initiated what turned out to be a major mistake at his company. Instead of these co-workers sharing their slip-up, they attempt to hide it by revoking all downloading and uploading power regarding the software at their company unless other employees had their specific approval. In other words, giving themselves too much power because of their mistakes, and take away power from other employees who should have this specific power.
